Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that involves the use of a focused light beam (laser) to eliminate undesired hair. This treatment permanently destroys hair follicles and effectively delays hair growth for long periods.
What is it?
This medical treatment uses a concentrated beam of light to remove unwanted hair. The light is emitted and absorbed into the hair and then converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hair. This damage inhibits and delays future hair growth (please note: this procedure typically doesn’t result in permanent hair loss and removal). In order to treat hair with a laser, it must have pigment in the hair follicle. This means that grey, blond, or light red hair cannot be treated.
Patients primarily request laser hair removal in the legs, armpits, upper lip, chin and bikini area. Our advanced laser hair removal technology uses a state-of-the-art laser, which brings you efficient and comfortable solutions for permanent hair reduction.
What to expect
Only hairs that are in active growth cycle at the time of treatment are disabled, which is why a series of treatments are required. Patients can expect approximately 10-20% hair reduction with each treatment. Treatments should be spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart for best results. A minimum of 5 treatments are typically needed for effective results.
You may notice redness and a bit of swelling in the treated area for a few hours after the procedure. Avoiding UV light for up to six weeks after treatment is important.
