Rashes

Rashes are patches of skin that are abnormal in color or texture and can look bumpy, scaly or swollen.

What is it?

Psychological (stress, unease, fright or a traumatic incident) and environmental factors (air contaminants, food-related carcinogens, pesticides, lead and even overexposure to computer screens) primarily cause rashes and can bring about itchiness or pain. Rashes might also be symptoms of various ailments, including chickenpox, contact dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, ringworm and shingles.

Rashes are common, and nearly everyone has experienced a rash at some point, so try not to worry, we can help and have immediate appointment availability for patients looking for immediate relief.

How is it treated?

Dermatology & Skin Surgery Centers recommends scheduling an appointment in one of our offices in Adrian, Battle Creek, Dowagiac, Hillsdale, Jackson, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph and Sturgis, Michigan, or Angola, Elkhart, Goshen and Plymouth, Indiana, if you notice any of the following symptoms:

  • A rash covering most of your body
  • A rash that forms blisters or transforms into open wounds or raw skin
  • Fever or sickness accompanied by a rash
  • A rapidly spreading rash
  • A rash that causes pain
  • A rash affecting the eyes, lips, mouth, or genital skin

We understand that rashes can be uncomfortable and itchy - and even sometimes painful - and we have board-certified dermatologists and specialists in place to help treat your unique condition. Treatment options typically include a topical medicated ointment, an oral medication or over-the-counter creams.

Schedule today and let us help you eliminate your rash so you can continue with life!
