Lifts and reshapes sagging breasts from aging, pregnancy, or weight loss—repositions tissue for a firmer, more youthful look without changing size much.
What is it?
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that raises and reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening surrounding tissue. It is especially popular among women in Jackson and Battle Creek, MI who have experienced breast deflation or drooping due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or aging.
Unlike breast augmentation, a breast lift does not increase breast volume but repositions the existing tissue higher on the chest wall for a firmer, more youthful contour. Some patients choose to combine mastopexy with implants for added fullness. Our experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Sumita Saha, will work closely with each patient to determine the most flattering and functional approach to addressing sagging breasts.
What to expect
Your consultation will include a detailed exam and a discussion about your aesthetic goals, nipple position, and skin elasticity. During surgery, which typically lasts two to three hours under general anesthesia, incisions are made around the areola and possibly along the breast crease, depending on the degree of lift needed.
After your breast lift, you can expect mild swelling, bruising, and temporary changes in nipple sensitivity. You'll need to wear a supportive post-surgical bra and limit upper body activity for the first few weeks. Most patients resume non-strenuous routines in 7–10 days, with full recovery in about four to six weeks. As the tissues settle, you'll enjoy more youthful, lifted breasts with improved shape and symmetry—without the need for ongoing maintenance.
