What is it?
Fungal infections arise when invasive fungi infiltrate and assault a part (or parts) of the body. Fungi can reside on the skin, within the body or in the environment. It primarily affects the body's surface areas, including the skin, nails or hair, with some of the most prevalent infections being athlete's foot, ringworm, yeast infections, jock itch and nail fungi.
Infections of this kind are typically not life-threatening for those patients with a robust immune system; however, they can be more intense for those with compromised immune systems.
