What is it?

A neck lift, also known as platysmaplasty or cervicoplasty, is a surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the neck and jawline. Over time, skin laxity, muscle banding, and fat accumulation can lead to a “turkey neck” or double chin. A neck lift tightens the underlying muscles, removes excess fat and repositions loose skin to restore a more defined, youthful neck contour. Many patients combine this procedure with a facelift for liposuction for optimal results.

If your interested in learning if a neck lift is right for you, schedule a consultation with experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Sumita Saha in our Jackson or Battle Creek clinics.

What to expect

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 1.5 to 3 hours. Incisions are made behind the ears and under the chin to allow precise tightening of the platysma muscle and removal of excess tissue. After surgery, you’ll wear a supportive garment and may experience temporary swelling, bruising, and numbness. Most patients can resume light activities within 7–10 days, though full healing can take several weeks. Our experienced team provides detailed aftercare instructions and ongoing follow-up to ensure results are smooth, natural and long-lasting.
